1. Fill out and submit our Adoption Application.

2. Once you have been approved, I will put you on our wait list for either a certain type/sex/color.

3. When the babies are 3-4 weeks old, I will email each individual in the order they appear on the wait list. This is when you get to choose your babies.

4. Send us a check or money order of $5 each to hold your selected babies.

5. When they are 5-6 weeks old, you come and pick them up. Bring your own carrier.

Babies - 5 weeks - 11 weeks  are $25.00 each. If you adopted 3, the 3rd one is $10. 
         (This includes 2 weeks worth of baby food to get you started.)

Young Adults - Over 12 weeks are $7.00 each  Neutered males are $25.00
         (This includes 1 week of food to get you started.)

     $25.00 per rat is the average price in the US for rats from quality breeders. So this is what we base our fee on. 
      Hidden Haven rats are well pedigreed from well-known lines that have been bred for health, longevity and for sweet temperament for many generations. We do NOT add pet shop rats or rats with questionable health and unknown genetics to our lines. We research the bloodlines that we add to ours and keep records of the rats we breed.  If a serious health or temperament problem pops up in one of our lines we  discontinue that line. We want you to be assured that when you adopt from us, you are getting  quality rats with great temperaments. We take pride in the rats we breed.   
      The adoption fee helps to offset the cost of food, bedding, supplies, veterinary bills and shipping cost to bring in the best bloodlines available. It can be very costly to strive to constantly improve each generation. But this is a hobby that I dearly love so it is worth it to me.

      Once you have filled out the Adoption Questionnaire and have been approved, you may send your down payment/deposit.  The deposit of $5.00 per rat is non-refundable. This policy is necessary so that we don't end up holding a rat for someone who never picks up the baby they reserved and we have had to turn away someone who is serious about adopting a baby. We accept personal checks or money orders for the deposit or the full amount paid in advance. Please make sure you write the name of the rat or the type/sex and from what litter your desired rats are from.  Also your email address.  I will email you to let you know your check arrived. 
      I will post individual baby pictures on the Available Babies page when they are about 3-4 weeks old and are ready for the individuals on my "Wait List" to choose which ones they want.  I will email each individual in the order they appear on the waiting list when it's their turn to pick out their babies. After each baby is chosen, I will post the individual's name under the baby's picture. If you haven't sent in your deposit before, you will have 7 days to get your check or money order to me. Either for the non-refundable $5.00 per baby deposit or the total amount. If I don't receive your deposit by then, I will assume you have changed your mind and the babies will then become "available" again.  Once I receive your payment I will post the amount paid under the baby's picture and the baby will officially be  reserved. You may pay the balance when you pick up your baby, but I will only accept CASH at that thime.
